Racing

smiles and sunglassesFor the more competitive among you the club hosts a full and active race calendar. Each alternate Friday we hold club races.

To allow all types of yachts and sailors to participate the races can be ‘round the cans', pursuit, passage, all day, or round the island races. All the races are scored using traditional IRC (International Racing Committee) and Moving handicaps. (MH)

Most races count towards the series Cup, which is a season long competition between all competing yachts. The MH handicap allows the less experienced crews to be amongst the prizes. Members that do not own a yacht but are keen to race are encouraged to come to the club on Fridays and volunteer themselves as willing crew to skippers or you may hire the club boats from our fleet after tuition or assessment from the club instructor.

The club runs three series a year of 8 - 10 races per series. The Spring, Summer and Winter Series. To escape the Kuwait summer heat the summer series is run on Tuesday evenings at 5 pm, perfect for those sundowners. Spring and Winter Series..are run every other Friday at 8 am. Check the club calendar for race dates.

Currently there are 11 keelboats racing, ranging from 24 ft to 40 feet.
